Collaboratively designed, Bogobrush is the buy one give one toothbrush with a sleek, modern form, made of environmentally-friendly materials. Unlike the 450 million+ plastic toothbrushes that end up in the landfill each year in the United States, Bogobrush is 100% biodegradable.
Bogobrush had its beginnings in Jamestown, North Dakota, where brother-sister duo John and Heather McDougall, the company’s founders, grew up as children of a dentist. After John and Heather finished school, they set out to bring more environmental and social awareness into people’s daily routines. Together, with their team of collaborators from all walks of life, they decided to re-imagine the toothbrush.
“We thought that a product you use to start your day and finish your night deserved the highest possible attention to design,” says Chief Creative Officer John McDougall, an award-winning industrial designer. Sculpted from bamboo, Bogobrush’s handle has a cylindrical, minimalist form that fits perfectly in every hand. The brush’s bristles, made from biodegradable nylon, stand up to months of regular use, and when the brush’s use is done, it will return safely to earth.
“We are really excited to give people in need an actual Bogobrush, because we believe everyone deserves to use a toothbrush they actually care about,” says Chief Executive Officer Heather McDougall, an honors law school graduate. Bogobrush is building relationships with organizations across the country that will distribute brushes to people in need, and enabling brushes to be given in the same community from which they’re purchased. Current partners include Sharing & Caring Hands and Apple Tree Dental in the Twin Cities, Covenant Community Care in Detroit, and Good Samaritan in Atlanta. Relationships with other local and national organizations are in the works, and will likely be announced before the end of the year.
Bogobrush is currently available for pre-order at bogobrush.com, where you can purchase a single,
