PUSH Design Solutions is a Toronto-based fitness technology startup that focuses on using data and wearable technology to maximize training efficiency. Launched in 2012 from the JOLT startup accelerator at MaRS, PUSH co-founder Rami Alhamad and his team have developed a system to help athletes track and analyze their training. The PUSH armband is designed to provide users access to the same metrics elite athletes have used for decades to track and analyze their overall strength, metrics such as power, force, and velocity. The portal also allows coaches and trainers access to this data, providing deep insights into the condition of the athlete and allowing trainers and coaches the ability to plan and track their athlete’s performance over time. Currently, the vast majority of trainers and coaches utilize spreadsheets to track such data.
PUSH aims to raise $80,000 through Indiegogo to begin manufacturing and shipping PUSH Bands to consumers- scheduled for early 2014. After raising $160,000 through Angel Investors and MaRS’ accelerator program JOLT, PUSH successfully launched its beta-testing program. The program attracted over 1,000 applicants within 24 hours from some of the top teams in NFL, NHL, MLB, and pro soccer teams in Europe.
“We’ve been thrilled with the flood of international interest in our product, and the support from the start-up community in Toronto, including the Imagination Catalyst. We’re really excited to launch our crowdfunding campaign at OCAD University, where I studied design - a core pillar of our company’s DNA.” Mike Lovas, PUSH Chief Design Officer.
PUSH’s Indiegogo page will offer donors a range of ‘Perks’ starting at $5 for personalized thank yous; a limited perk of a pre-ordered production unit at a discounted $139 and several exclusive packages. PUSH Bands will be sold online and at selected retails locations spring 2014 for $149.
