The Refinery Group, A small California machine shop that works in the aerospace industry recently turned to kickstarter to produce a limited edition, small batch run of machined iPhone docks. They vary in finish and material, and prices go from $79 - 999 dollars. The most expensive version is machined from a solid block of steel, and then plated in gold for a royal finish.
The Infinity Dock has a unique door mechanism that makes removing your cord effortless, as well as micro suction pads on the bottom that secure the dock to smooth surfaces. In addition to being used to charge your lightning devices, a custom cord is included to charge micro USB devices as well.
Each part is machined from a solid piece of 6061 aluminum and then anodized in a multitude of colors and textures. They are sourcing all the parts and materials locally, and hand assembling each unit. It takes over 5 hours to make each one.
