In 2010, Wesley LaPorte and Dan Barnes founded PhoneSoap. Both were still college students at Brigham Young University, and they needed to raise funding to build their product. They began by competing in business school competitions, making enough winnings along the way to keep up product development. Eventually, they were accepted into the Rice business school competition and won “Best Marketing Plan” at the competition, further fueling the project and a desire to fulfill their childhood dream – build a business together.
After a successful Kickstarer campaign, LaPorte and Barnes developed relationships and partnerships in various countries to complete and manufacture a product that has been approved by FCC/CE for sale and was tested by third-party laboratories affirming its sanitizing claims.
PhoneSoap Charger officially went on sale, November 22nd, 2013. The first of its kind PhoneSoap simultaneously sanitizes and charges smartphones. With the help of two UV-C lights, one on the top and one on the bottom, and a reflective inner chamber, the germicidal rays completely surround whatever is placed inside. PhoneSoap Charger effectively kills 99.99% of all bacteria and germs in less than five minutes.
Included is a standard USB port where a user can utilize his or her phone's charging cable to charge any phone. When a phone is placed inside PhoneSoap Charger and the lid closed, sanitizing begins and ends automatically. A blue light on the front indicates when sanitizing is complete.
PhoneSoap fits all phones. Dimensions are: 7.6 in (L) X 5 in (W) X 1.76 in (H). If it fits inside, it can be safely sanitized.
