Yamaha is bringing the exceptional performance of its all-in-one sound bars to a new level with the YAS-106, which simplifies the setup and daily operation of a home theater system while providing great TV sound. Sporting an attractive, ultra-slim design, the YAS-106 creates a convincing virtual surround-sound experience from Dolby Digital and DTS multichannel soundtracks without requiring multiple speakers like a traditional home theater audio system.
With its dual built-in subwoofers, twin bass reflex ports, and Advanced Bass Extension Processing for surround playback, the YAS-106 further simplifies home theater setup by eliminating the need for a separate outboard subwoofer to reproduce deep, rich bass.
With an HDMI input and output supporting the direct connection of such video sources as Blu-ray Disc/DVD players or cable-TV set-top boxes, the YAS-106 is assured of receiving a true 7.1- or 5.1-channel audio signal. That makes it possible to create the most convincing virtual-surround experience while simplifying cable connections to the TV. In contrast, sound bars connected to a TV’s optical digital-audio output might receive only a stereo signal, preventing the surround processors in sound bars from maximizing surround performance.
Though the YAS-106 brings legendary Yamaha performance to a more popular price point, the YAS-106 doesn’t skimp on HDMI connectivity. The sound bar’s HDMI input and output feature HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) technology to eliminate coffee-table remote control clutter. With CEC, the remote control that comes with your HDMI/CEC-equipped TV can be used to control the sound bar’s on/off and volume functions.
Additionally, it can be controlled wirelessly via Bluetooth from Android and Apple mobile devices running the free, simple-to-navigate Yamaha Home Theater Controller app.
“The YAS-106 provides signature Yamaha audio quality with simplified setup in an easy-to-use, décor-friendly package at an unbeatable price,” said Bob Goedken, general manager, AV division, Yamaha Corporation of America. “With the inclusion of Bluetooth streaming, the YAS-106 delivers even more bang for the buck by doubling as a compact, great-sounding music system that connects wirelessly from a smartphone or tablet.”
Yamaha Clear Voice raises dialog levels in the YAS-106 to ensure dialogue audibility no matter what’s going on in the background of a scene. The feature is particularly handy for listening to sports-program commentary and news broadcasts. With the latest HDMI 2.0 connections, the sound bar passes through not only full HD from Blu-ray Disc players, but also the latest high-performance video format — 4K Ultra HD video with high dynamic range (HDR) – from new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc players and from future Internet-connected HD media streamers.
HD cable- and satellite-TV set-top boxes can also be connected to the sound bar’s HDMI input. The YAS-106 is a mere 2 1/8 inches tall when placed in front of a flat-screen TV, so it won’t block your view of the on-screen action. The 35-inch-wide sound bar offers great flexibility in wall placement and can be rotated to match the orientation of wall-mounted TVs.
A separate powered subwoofer can be easily connected to the sound bar’s subwoofer output if even more bass is desired.
