The Combyn helmet boasts an industry-first soft-shell construction, with a flexible outer shell wrapped around a soft, two-layer Vinyl Nitrile (VN) foam. Unlike traditional expanded-polystyrene (EPS) or expanded-polypropylene (EPP) helmet liners, the soft VN material in the Combyn helmet is designed to withstand repeated impacts.

The recently finished snowboard competitions at the 2013 X Games saw the competitive debut of Giro’s revolutionary Combyn helmet. Professional athletes who were anticipated to compete in the Combyn helmet at the X Games include Sina Candrian, Kaitlyn Farrington, Christian Haller, Matt Ladley, and Peetu Piiroinen.
